Electric11 completed a commercial workshop electrical installation for a busy motorsport facility in England. The project added a dedicated electrical supply for a vehicle lift, improved lighting beneath the mezzanine and introduced motion-controlled floodlighting with manual override.
The upgrade included a rotary isolator for local control, 18 four-foot twin LED fittings and two 100W PIR floodlights. Together, the additions created a brighter, more practical work area with electrical controls suited to daily vehicle preparation and maintenance.
Electrical Upgrades for an Active Motorsport Workshop
Motorsport workshops rely on dependable power and clear visibility. Technicians need suitable lighting around vehicles, workbenches and access routes, while equipment such as vehicle lifts requires a correctly planned electrical supply and a practical isolation point.
Electric11 planned the installation around the existing workshop layout, main distribution board, mezzanine structure and vehicle working areas. This allowed the team to add the required circuits and fittings while keeping disruption to workshop activity under control.
Dedicated Power Supply for the Vehicle Lift
The vehicle lift required a permanent electrical connection from the workshop’s main distribution board. Electric11 installed the supply and added a rotary isolator near the equipment.
The local isolator allows the lift supply to be switched off independently when required for maintenance or operational control. The connection was incorporated into the existing commercial distribution arrangement rather than relying on a temporary supply.
LED Lighting Beneath the Mezzanine
The area beneath the mezzanine needed broader, more consistent illumination for vehicle preparation and workshop tasks. Electric11 installed 18 four-foot twin LED fittings across the designated rows.
The fitting layout distributes light through the work area and reduces darker sections beneath the steel mezzanine structure. The result is a more usable workspace for detailed mechanical activity, equipment handling and movement around vehicles.
PIR Floodlights with Manual Override
Electric11 also installed two 100W floodlights controlled by a passive infrared sensor. The PIR activates the lights when movement is detected, making the arrangement useful for access, security and intermittent activity.
An override switch gives workshop staff manual control when continuous lighting is required. This combines automatic operation with the flexibility needed in an active commercial environment.
