Improving Access to Existing Sockets
Some existing socket positions were difficult to reach around the conservatory’s radiators. Electric11 relocated surface-mounted double sockets to improve access and make the outlets more convenient for everyday use.
Socket positioning matters in rooms where furniture, heating equipment and changing layouts can restrict access. Moving the outlets created a more practical arrangement without requiring the homeowner to rely on extension leads across the room.
Converting and Adding Double Sockets
The team converted existing single sockets to double sockets using surface boxes. This increased the number of available plug points while making use of the established electrical positions.
Additional double sockets were also installed where the room needed more power access. Surface trunking provided a defined route for the associated cabling and reduced the need to disturb the existing wall finishes.
Together, the conversions, relocations and new outlets created a more usable power layout for lamps, chargers and other equipment used in the conservatory.
Testing and Electrical Certification
Electrical testing forms an important final stage of lighting and socket installation. The project documentation states that an electrical certificate will be issued in accordance with BS 7671.
Where the completed work requires a building control notification, Electric11 will also submit the appropriate documentation. This provides the homeowner with a record of the electrical work completed at the property.
The Result
The completed electrical work gave the conservatory improved overhead lighting, focused under-counter illumination and more accessible power outlets. Six downlights now provide wider coverage, while the replacement LED strip supports localised lighting.
Relocated sockets, single-to-double conversions and additional double outlets created a more practical electrical layout. Surface-mounted accessories and trunking allowed the team to complete the changes without unnecessary disturbance to the room.
This Wymondham project shows how targeted lighting and socket improvements can make an existing conservatory more comfortable and functional without requiring a full rewire.
