Garden Music Room Electrical Installation in Norwich
Project Overview
Electric11 installed a dedicated electrical supply, lighting and 12 plug-in points for a garden music room in Norwich. An external steel wire armoured cable feeds a local consumer unit, while surface-mounted trunking distributes power neatly around the timber-lined interior. Four ceiling lights, LED accent lighting and a weatherproof outdoor socket completed the practical installation.
The Challenge
A garden music room needs more than a single socket and ceiling light. Instruments, amplifiers, recording equipment and other accessories can quickly increase the demand for usable power points, while suitable lighting helps make the space comfortable at different times of day.
The installation also had to suit the timber-lined interior without unnecessary disturbance. External equipment needed to withstand the weather, and the new circuits required their own clearly arranged local distribution point.
The Electrical Installation
The team installed an external SWA cable to supply the garden music space and fitted a compact local consumer unit for the new circuits.
Inside the room, cabling was surface-mounted in neat white trunking. This approach suited the finished timber walls, kept the wiring protected and left the installation accessible for future maintenance or alterations.
The completed electrical provision included:

- Four flat ceiling light fittings
- Six twin socket outlets
- One external weatherproof socket outlet
- LED tape lighting above the door
- Surface-mounted white trunking
- An external SWA cable supply
The combination of general lighting and LED accent lighting gives the customer more control over the room’s atmosphere. Six twin sockets provide twelve plug-in points around the space, reducing reliance on extension leads when music equipment is in use.
A Practical Result for the New Music Space
The finished garden room now has the power and lighting needed for regular use as a dedicated music space. The local consumer unit separates and identifies the room’s lighting, socket and shed circuits, while the weatherproof external outlet adds a useful power point outside.
The visible wiring was arranged in consistent surface trunking, helping the installation sit neatly against the timber interior. The result is a functional electrical setup designed around how the room will be used.
